WHERE IT STARTED
BEFORE IT DEFINED THE ROOM, IT STARTED WITH AN IDEA.
Burn By Brae began in 2019 under a different name: Rise Up Black Girl.
At the time, the brand was rooted in self-empowerment—a reminder to take up space, move with confidence, and stay deeply connected to who you are. It was personal from the beginning, even before I fully knew what the brand would eventually become.
Then the world changed.
During the pandemic, I found myself becoming even more curious about fragrance—how different notes worked together, how scent could affect a mood, and how something as simple as fragrance could change the feeling of a space. I began experimenting with new fragrance combinations, incorporating essential oils, changing the branding and testing different ideas as I figured out what felt authentic to me.
As the brand evolved, Rise Up Black Girl became Burn By Brae.
The new name felt more personal and gave me room to create something that could grow alongside me. But Burn By Brae was still finding its identity. There were different logos, different scent combinations and plenty of trial and error as I learned what I wanted the brand to represent.
Eventually, my vision became clearer.
I began moving Burn By Brae toward a more elevated, intentional approach to home fragrance—one that reflected my own love for beautiful spaces, thoughtful details and the way scent can completely shift the atmosphere of a room.
Around 2023, life required me to put the brand on pause. While I stepped away from the business, I never really stepped away from fragrance. I still cared about what I wore, how my home smelled and the feeling a scent could leave behind long after someone entered a room.
And when I was ready to return, I didn't want to simply pick up where I left off.
I wanted Burn By Brae to reflect who I had become.
The brand returned more refined, more intentional and with a clearer point of view—moving beyond simply creating candles and toward creating fragrance around space, mood and the way we experience home.
What started as an idea about taking up space has evolved into something new:
Defining the space around you.
